About Me

Ann Veilleux MSSW, LSCW

I believe that the most important thing in making psychotherapy truly useful is to be sure that the person coming into therapy feels emotionally safe and fully accepted by the therapist. I know this from my own therapy: if I didn’t feel that the therapist liked me, I couldn’t talk freely. Indeed, how can a person look deeply inside themselves if they are wondering about being criticized? Besides being knowledgeable and skilled, a therapist needs to know how to help people know they are safe and appreciated for who they are. It comes naturally to me to help people feel safe, as one of my greatest pleasures in being a therapist is to see the inner beauty of each of my clients.

I have maintained a successful private practice for more than thirty-five years during which time I have helped hundreds of people change and improve their lives. My clients are adult men and women wishing to deal with a wide variety of issues affecting their ability to live satisfying and productive lives. These issues range from relationship difficulties, problems at school and work, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, domestic violence, trauma or post-traumatic stress and disassociation and spiritual growth.

Clinical Experience

During my thirty-nine years in private practice, I have developed experience in all the above mentioned human struggles. I am experienced in working with personality disorders and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). I have found EMDR to be particularly useful in treating trauma and helping survivors of abuse travel a shorter, less painful and more thorough therapeutic journey.

I see many people dealing with mood problems like depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. I am skilled at seeing and understanding the interactions between couples and family members. I provide therapy for traditional, non-traditional and blended families. I counsel divorcing or divorced couples or those considering it.  I especially enjoy working with people to repair and improve their most important primary relationships.

I work with women and men, couples, families and groups and with straight, gay, bisexual individuals.
